A guide to wholesale prices should show prices, so this one does. Every figure below comes from one Malaysian date wholesaler's live price list, checked on 27 October 2026. This site does not set those prices. They are a snapshot of what the trade was charging in October 2026, and they will move with stock and promotions.
Malaysia has no commercial date-growing trade, so every date sold here is imported. This site is named after Sayer, a date from Khuzestan in Iran that is also traded as Stamaran. It is amber-brown and semi-dry. The October list had no Sayer listing at all, so instead of a variety guide, this one looks at the low end of the list: every date listing that came in under RM20 a kilo.
Fifteen listings under RM20 a kilo
The list had 57 date listings. Fifteen of them worked out below RM20 a kilo. Only four of those fifteen were in stock on the day of the check.
| Listing | Pack | Price (RM) | RM per kg | Stock |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rotab Mazafati AAA | 12 × 600g (7.2kg) | 86 | 11.94 | Out of stock |
| Rotab BAM AAA | 12 × 600g (7.2kg) | 88 | 12.22 | Out of stock |
| Rotab (no variety named) | 12 × 600g (7.2kg) | 90 | 12.50 | Out of stock |
| Natural Deglet Noor | 5kg | 63 | 12.60 | Out of stock |
| Deglet Tanpa Tangkai | 12 × 400g (4.8kg) | 62 | 12.92 | Out of stock |
| Mariami A No.2 | 5kg | 68 | 13.60 | Out of stock |
| Mariami A Normal | 5kg | 75 | 15.00 | In stock |
| Safawi Premium A No.2 (Mini) | 5kg | 80 | 16.00 | In stock |
| Mariami AA (No.2) | 5kg | 80 | 16.00 | Out of stock |
| Deglet Bertangkai (other brand) | 12 × 400g (4.8kg) | 86 | 17.92 | Out of stock |
| Deglet Noor Bertangkai | 5kg | 90 | 18.00 | Out of stock |
| Deglet Noor Bertangkai (semi-dry) | 12 × 400g (4.8kg) | 88 | 18.33 | In stock |
| Deglet Noor Bertangkai | 12 × 400g (4.8kg) | 90 | 18.75 | Out of stock |
| Ajwa Premium A No.2 (Mini) | 5kg | 95 | 19.00 | Out of stock |
| Safawi Premium A No.1 (Small) | 5kg | 95 | 19.00 | In stock |
One more Deglet Noor listing is left out of the table because its pack weight is unclear, so no price per kilo can be worked out. It was out of stock too.
The cheapest figures were the ones you could not order
The six cheapest listings by weight, everything below RM15 a kilo, were all out of stock. That includes the three rotab packs, two Deglet Noor listings and the Mariami A No.2. The lowest price per kilo you could actually order was RM15, for the Mariami A Normal 5kg pack at RM75.
So a figure like RM11.94 a kilo is worth knowing, but it is not a figure to plan a budget around. Mazafati is cold-stored and sold year-round, so the empty Rotab Mazafati listing says nothing about a season. It only says that this pack was out of stock that day.
The four you could order
Mariami A Normal, 5kg for RM75. Mariami is from Iran. It is dark, semi-dry and chewy.
Safawi Premium A No.2 (Mini), 5kg for RM80, or RM16 a kilo. Safawi comes from the Madinah region of Saudi Arabia, is longer than Ajwa, dark brown to black, soft and chewy.
Deglet Noor Bertangkai (semi-dry), twelve 400g packets for RM88, which is 4.8kg. Deglet Noor is from Tunisia or Algeria. It is golden, translucent and semi-dry, and when it is sold on the stem in Malaysia it is called kurma tangkai. This was the only Deglet Noor listing in stock out of the ten on the list.
Safawi Premium A No.1 (Small), 5kg for RM95, or RM19 a kilo. That is RM3 a kilo above the Mini grade of the same variety.
Buying one of each would come to RM338 for 19.8kg of dates across three varieties.
Just above the line
The next in-stock listings above RM20 a kilo were Rotab Sukkary Premium, 3kg for RM63 (RM21 a kilo), and Ajwa Premium A No.1 (Small), 5kg for RM115 (RM23 a kilo). No 1kg date pack made it under RM20 a kilo. The cheapest 1kg date pack on the list was Ajwa A at RM31.
Reading these prices
Every date listing on the list showed a sale price below a higher regular price, and the figures above are the sale prices. The grade letters are each importer's own size sorting, so an "A" from one wholesaler is not the same promise as an "A" from another. Ask for a quote that names the variety, the grade and the pack weight, and compare it per kilo.
