Medjool is easier to judge when you put it beside a date you already know the price of. This guide uses Mariami for that. Both appear nine times on one Malaysian date wholesaler's price list, checked in October 2026, so the two can be compared listing by listing. If you came for Harga Kurma Medjool in Malaysia, all nine Medjool prices are below, with Mariami as the yardstick.
Two very different dates
Medjool originated in Morocco. It is a large, very soft date with a rich caramel taste, and every Medjool listing on this list is labelled Palestine (spelled "Palestin" in some names). Mariami comes from Iran. It is dark, semi-dry and chewy.
The grade words do not line up either. Medjool here is sold as Large, Jumbo, Premium Jumbo and Super Jumbo. Mariami uses A, AA and AAA, with extras such as "Normal", "No.2", "VIP" and one "Jumbo Premium". Grades like these are each importer's own size sorting, not an international standard, so a Mariami AAA and a Medjool Jumbo cannot be matched by name.

Per kilo, the two never overlap
The dearest Mariami listing per kilo was the 1kg AAA pack at RM40. The cheapest Medjool listing per kilo, counting the out-of-stock ones too, was a Jumbo 12 × 500g at RM48.33. So on this list every Medjool listing cost more per kilo than every Mariami listing.
Keep to what you could actually buy and the gap widens. The cheapest in-stock Medjool was the Premium Jumbo 5kg pack at RM56 a kilo, RM16 a kilo above the dearest in-stock Mariami. Against the cheapest in-stock Mariami, the A Normal 5kg pack at RM15 a kilo, it was RM41 a kilo more.
A 5kg pack of each
Five kilos of Medjool Premium Jumbo cost RM280. That sum covers three 5kg packs of Mariami A Normal (RM225) with RM55 left over. Set against the top in-stock Mariami 5kg, the AAA VIP at RM148, the Premium Jumbo cost RM132 more. The Super Jumbo 5kg pack at RM315 cost RM167 more than that same Mariami AAA VIP.
Same packet format, different date
One format appears on both lists: twelve 500g packets, 6kg in all. The Mariami Jumbo Premium Box in that format was RM235, and it was out of stock. Medjool Jumbo had two listings in the same format, RM355 (in stock) and RM290 (out of stock). Divide by twelve and that is roughly RM29.58 and RM24.17 a packet for Medjool, against roughly RM19.58 for the Mariami box; those per-packet figures are the listed prices divided by the packet count.
Buying under a kilo
The 900g Medjool box at RM70 was the only Medjool listing under 5kg. The 1kg Mariami AAA pack was RM40. That puts the Medjool box RM30 higher for 100g less fruit.
Stock on the day of the check
Five of the nine Medjool listings were in stock: both 5kg packs (Premium Jumbo and Super Jumbo), the two Jumbo packet multipacks and the 900g box. All three Large listings and the RM290 Jumbo were out of stock. For Mariami, four of nine were in stock: the A Normal, AA and AAA VIP 5kg packs and the 1kg AAA pack. The A No.2 and AA (No.2) 5kg packs, both pouch listings and the Jumbo Premium Box were out of stock.
Demand for dates in Malaysia peaks before and during Ramadan, with other peaks around Hari Raya, weddings, kenduri and umrah gifts. Prices and stock can move between a check and the day you order, so ask for a fresh quote and compare it per kilo.
